Actor | Bio Mechanics Instructor

Julia trained as an actor at The Poor School in London and has been acting professionally since 1996. Similarly to Terence Mann, since 2000 she has trained and worked with the world’s leading exponent in Meyerhold’s Biomechanics, Russian Director, Gennady Bogdanov. She has performed in four touring productions directed by Gennady, using the Biomechanic technique.

Julia co-founded Motion Loco with Terence in 2002 and co-wrote/performed in Syd & Fanny’s Christmas Turkey and Me & The King, both of which toured nationally. Other theatre credits include Rafts & Dreams, Across Oka and Separate Tables (Royal Exchange Theatre), Lady Windermere’s Fan (Chichester Festival Theatre) and Angels in America and You are Here (Unity Theatre, Liverpool).

She has devised and performed with a number of touring theatre companies including Talia Theatre, Siege Perilous, Forbidden Theatre and Negative Equity. Other stage work includes many new writing projects and rehearsed readings including at The Royal Court Theatre, The Royal Exchange Theatre, Octagon Theatre Bolton, Oldham Coliseum and The Everyman Theatre, Liverpool.

Alongside acting, Julia studied languages, and has worked on and off stage in both French and Spanish. She is currently performing in The Vegetable Nannies and Troll’s Kitchen around the UK and
internationally with renowned street theatre collective Plunge Boom. Television appearances include BBC1’s Roger Roger and I’m With Stupid and a number of commercials. Julia regularly works in voiceover and has recorded many plays for BBC Radio 3 and 4.
