Actor | Head of Screen Acting

Karen has been working solidly as an actress since 1986 and has built up a hugely impressive body of work spanning theatre, film and television. She has performed in numerous theatres such as the Royal Exchange, Edinburgh Traverse, Young Vic and Chichester Festival Theatre.

Her roles in television and film include projects such as Ken Loache’s Raining Stones, Shameless, Silent Witness, Pulling, Homefront, White Heat, Young Dracula, Trollied, Jimmy McGovern’s The Street, Booze Cruise, Eastenders, Medics, Born and Bred, Casualty, Holby City, and 18 months on Coronation St playing the regular character of Teresa Bryant.

She has most recently appeared on BBC 3’s In the Flesh.

Alongside this, Karen has maintained a teaching career, specialising in screen acting and has been devising and directing workshops and courses in drama schools for over 15 years. She is currently module leader for the BA (Hons) screen acting courses at Italia Conti Academy and Manchester Metropoloitan University.
